INTERNET
USE AGREEMENT

The Saint
Clair Area Cshool District will
provide access to the Internet
for students who have their
parents' or guardians'
permission to use the network
and who agree to the provisions,
requirements, and prohibitions
on network use outlined in
District Policy SC01-97.
Computer
Useage: Good behavior and
respect for school property is
expected of students using
school computers. Computer
files including e-mails, are not
private. The use of school
computers is a privilege, it may
be revoked or other action may
be taken for violations of any
of the following rules:
*School
classroom and lab computers are
to be used for educational
purposes, including report
writing, internet access for
research or class projects.
They may not be used for
personal objectives, such as
games, chat lines, or other
personal use. Personal e-mail
or web pages MAY NOT be
accessed.
*Only
authorized software should be
used on school computers.
Students may not load other
software titles or remove
software that has been placed
there by school officials.
*Students
may not change titles of
folders, desk top patterns, or
any other setting placed on the
computer by school officials.
*Students
should not access, change, or
delete files belonging to others
without their expressed
permission.
This
policy strictly prohibits the
following activities and any
others determined by the
district authorities to be
unacceptable uses of the
network. These prohibitions are
in effect any time school
district resources aree accessed
in any way whethter in school or
indirectly through another
internet provider.
*Allowing
an unauthorized person to use an
assigned account.
*Use of
the network for non-work or
non-school related purposes.
*Use of
the network to access or
transmit obscene or pornographic
material.
*Use of
the network to access or
transmit material likely to be
offensive or objectionable to
recipients.
*Use of
the network to communicate
through e-mail for
non-educational purposes or
activities.
*Use of
the network to participate in
inappropriate and/or
objectionable discussions or
newsgroups.
*Use of
the network to transmit hate
mail, harassment, discriminatory
remarks, and other anti-social
communications.
*Use of
the network which results in any
copyright violation.
*Use of
the network to order or purchase
in the name of the school
district or in the name of any
individual any type of
merchandise or service. All
costs to the district or any
individual incurred because of
this type of violation will be
the responsibility of the user.
*Use of
the network to access any
fee-based on-line/Internet
service. All costs incurred to
the district or any individual
because of this type of
violation will be the
responsibility of the user.
*The
illegal installation,
distribution, reproduction or
use of copyrighted software on
district computers.
*Use of
the network to intentionally
obtain or modify files,
passwords, or data belonging to
other users.
*Use of
the network to misrepresent
other users on the network.
*Use of
school technology or the network
for fraudulent copying,
communications, or modification
of materials in violation of
local, state, and federal laws.
*Loading,
downloading, or use of
unauthorized games, programs,
files, or other electronic
media.
*Malicious
use of the network to develop
programs that harass other users
or infiltrate a computer system
and/or damage the software
components of a computer system.
*Destruction of district
computer software or hardware.
*Use of
the network to participate in
Internet Relay Chats (on-line
real-time conversations).
*Use of
the netword to facilitate any
illegal activity.
*Use of
the network for commercial or
for-profit purposes.
